Level 4 in Childcare & Education Award - February 2006

The Montessori is extremely proud to announce that Deborah Anderson is one of the first Nursery Managers in Northants to be awarded to be awarded an NVQ Level 4 in Childcare & Education. This is a two year course developing the students abilities in ensuring high standards in Childcare and Education and is a approximately equivalent to degree level. Deborah Anderson said "I am delighted that all my hard work has been worthwhile and am extremely proud to be the manager of the first nurseries in Northamptonshire to have this award". "This reinforces the nursery's commitment to continuous improvement and providing childcare and education of the highest standard". Ofsted Report - May 2001

Following our excellent Social Services Inspection of October 2000 we have recently undertaken our first Ofsted Inspection in May 2001. We are delighted with the Inspection Report as it confirms that our facilities have the highest standards in the area, and that our activities are both in line with the Early Learning Goals set by Ofsted whilst also incorporating the Montessori philosophies. "The setting has many strengths and the quality of the teaching is very good"

"The quality of children's learning is very good across all areas of learning"

"There is excellent individual support for all children"

"Children are making very good progress in their personal, social and emotional development"

"All aspects of speaking, listening, reading and writing are promoted well in the programme for communication, language and literacy"

"The high staff to child ratio is a significant strength, enabling staff to involve each child in conversation and discussion, creating a 'language rich' environment"

"Good emphasis is placed on mathematical language and learning about quantity, patterns and positions as part of children's play or art work"

"There is a good range of resources to promote learning"

"There is a very pleasant outdoor garden area to which the children have daily access and alternative indoor activities are arranged in poor weather"

We are absolutely delighted with the report as, unusually, there are NO significant weaknesses to address. Our one area highlighted for consideration is something we had already identified and which relates to "the use of local environment to further enhance children's learning across all areas".
